JD.com is a Chinese based online retailer. The logistics network of this company is being opened up to businesses and consumers. This service will begin in the cities of Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou. Items can be domestically sent with the use of the company app or by requests for pickup through the WeChat social messaging app. The company JD.com is also known as Jingdong. Jingdong is a competing company to another an e-commerce business in China known as Alibaba Group Holdings Ltd. JD.com wants to achieve the goal of expanding it’s service so that it will be able to accomplish residential and business parcel delivery service between any two locations in mainland China.

Jingdong would be able to supply warehouses and trucks and vans to make this delivery system possible. The company would then be able to compete against companies like ZTO Express Inc.and SF Express which are big in the e-commerce market in China. The goal of JD Express is to resemble companies like United Parcel Service and Fed Ex corp in the United States. At this point Jingdong claims that it can reach 99% of the orders it receives in one day or less. JD.com and Alibaba have moved more and more to improving logistics as they compete with each other in the e-commerce business in China. S.F. Express is currently the largest package delivery company in China.

Joybuy.com is an online retailer affiliate to Jingdong. They sell in in countries including the United States. They sell many things including phones, electronics, wigs, clothing, toys, shoes, jewelry, automotive and motorcycle parts, home appliances and more. They also offer free shipping on these products. Joybuy is run by JD.com. Jingdong was founded in 1998 by a man named Richard Liu. When the SARS outbreak made people in China to shy away from being in close contact with other people Richard Liu saw that e-commerce could gain in popularity in China. This way people could shop from home and this would cut down on the chances of people getting the sickness. His foresight really paid off for him and for the people of the country of China.
